stage right now.
A comedy makes the audience laugh with funny stories and jokes. William
Shakespeare （莎士比亚）wrote a famous comedy called “A Midsummer
A tragedy makes the audience cry with lots of fighting and a sad ending.
Shakespeare wrote a lot of tragedies, including Romeo and Juliet（罗密欧与朱丽叶）.
The most famous place to see plays in the USA is called Broadway, in New
York City. In the UK, people go to the West End in London.
“There’s no business like show business” – means that theatre is the
best job in the world
“The show must go on” – means that even though something terrible
has happened, one must be strong and keep on living

talking about which play you went to, what the play was about, and
where you saw it.
2. Describe an experience in your life when you thought “the show
must go on”.
